"Feliz Navi-blah"

PeeWee's Christmas Special was a family tradition at the Aanerud house at Christmas. Every time we watch it, we laugh so hard we cry. Maybe we're just a little weird, but even now, this part especially cracks me up.

"Ah wanna wit jou a Merry crease-mas fro da botto' ov my 'aart"

Enjoy!

New York with Beth!

So I went to New York City a couple weeks ago with one of my best friends, Beth. We were only there for about 3 and 1/2 days, but we did SO much. We saw Wicked on Broadway, went to the Guggenheim museum, went to Central Park, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, the Empire State Building, shopped in Soho, Greenwich Village and the Upper East Side, went to FAO Schwartz and saw the huge piano from the movie BIG (I LOVE that movie), Bergdorf Goodman, and ate at some AMAZING places - Balthazar, the Carnegie Deli, the Shake Shack, Blue Hill, Prune, Momofuku - all thanks to Beth - she's the foodie. If she wasn't with me, I probably would have just eaten at those hot dog and gyro sidewalks stands the whole time. Although, I've heard they're not too bad.
And we totally lucked out with the weather - it was like 70 degrees and sunny the whole time! It's so nice to have good friends to travel with. I'm glad Beth is the kind of person that gets up early, so we could get so much done. She kept me going, and was such a trooper too - never complaining about being 5 months pregnant. We had an absolute blast!

So You Think You Can Dance - Last Week

This is why I LOVE this show. These dancers are so brilliantly talented, but we also get to see the talents of the amazing choreographers. Each week, their dances tell a story. Many of the choreographers have been nominated for, and won Emmy Awards for their work on this show.
This week, one of the choreograpers, Tyce DiOrio, created a piece for Melissa and Ade about a woman struggling through breast cancer. I think I've watched it 3 times, and I still cry when the judges are giving their critique. I have never seen the judges (on ANY show) this moved by a piece.
I know it's kind of long, but if you haven't seen it, and you have the time, check it out.....

Festivities on the Fourth

For 4th of july weekend, Christiaan and I both had off work! We were excited to spend time with friends, and to finally get some use out of our pool - it was SO hot!!
On Friday night, we went with some friend of ours to Andy Brown park in Coppell. They had a bunch of food and drink vendors, face painting, etc. Then when it finally got dark, they put on almost a 20 minute Fireworks show! Pretty impressive

It was a lot of fun - they even gave us some "special" glasses that were supposed to enhance the fireworks
On Saturday, we had some friends, the Tolleys over to swim in our pool. We go to church with them, and were so glad they came over with their 3 little ones, Abigail, James and Wesley, to help us play in the pool and cool off! They are all such good swimmers, and really cute kids. We like their parents, Mikki and Jeff too (haha).
We ate fried chicken for lunch, with mashed potatoes, cole slaw, and yummy biscuits. Then for dessert I had made some festive Red, White and Blue decorated cupcakes. I think everyone liked them!

Christiaan picked up some watermelon at the store, but we were all so full after lunch - we forgot about the watermelon!
That night, we went to our friends/neighbors Justin and Lonneka's house. We ate MORE food, and saw another round of fireworks that night. After we came home, we were exhausted - but it was a fun weekend!
Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July and took the time to remember why we celebrate it!

What we've been doin'

No earth shattering news to share, but this is what we've been up to: I started my new job last Monday. It's been REALLY busy, but really great. I worked in this same store almost 5 years ago, but many of the same people are still there, so it kind of felt like coming "home". My parents sent me flowers on my first day (thanks Mom and Dad!).

On Friday, we went out to eat with some friends at RA sushi in Plano - it was REALLY good! We walked around a little at the Shops At Legacy (where the sushi place was).

Christiaan and I drove around Lake Grapevine one night in the Jeep, and we saw this little gem as we passed a convenience store. It's a LIVE BAIT VENDING MACHINE! I had never heard of such a thing....pretty amusing
Then on Saturday I attended my last day of Bootcamp! Overall, I was pretty pleased with the results. I lost almost 4% body fat and lost inches in my thigh and hip areas. It also made me a lot more conscious about what I eat - the bootcamp director was so good about providing us with dietary and nutritional support and ideas on good snacks, leaner meals, etc. Another good thing that came out of bootcamp - new tennies! I hadn't bought new tennis shoes in almost 5 years - and I could resist these cute pink Nikes!!
Christiaan continued to work on our yard - the most recent house project underway. We are pretty much replacing all the grass in front. Also, we have almost resolved all our pool plumbing nightmares (thanks to a LOT of dirty work by Christiaan and his dad)!

We have planted some flowers, and this pretty orange and yellow flowered plant sprang up out of nowhere in our backyard - I thought it was really pretty...but we didn't plant it, so we're not even sure what it is!

On Saturday night, Christiaan and I went to an engagement party for some of my former co-workers, Lindsay and Dave (but not to each other - it was a "joint" engagement party) It was a lot of fun, and so good to see all the Willow bend crew! (That's me and Lindsay)

So, that's it for now! Hope everyone is doing well

Ten Reasons Why I haven't Blogged in 2 months:

10. Christiaan and I are both now serving in the Young Men/Young Women's programs at church which keeps us busy with Mutual, Sunday Lessons, Church dances, Presidency Meetings, etc.

9. Christiaan has been VERY busy at work - he will close at least 12 Loans this month!! Yea!

8. I started a workout Boot Camp 4 weeks ago which meets 3 days a week in Dallas. Its kickin' my BUTT, but I love it!!! My friend Beth is in it with me. We get "before and after results" next Wednesday - they took measurements of our bicep, thigh, hips, waist, and body fat %.

7. So You Think You Can Dance started a couple weeks ago - that pretty much takes care of my Wednesday and Thursday nights!

6. We went to Wichita Falls over Memorial Weekend to hang out with Christiaan's family! We celebrated his birthday (he turned 29), went to a movie, ate a LOT of good food, shot guns, and helped his sister Merredith start making wedding plans She's getting married in October.

5. Our pool plumbing sprung a leak last weekend, and Christiaan and his dad were digging up the backyard for almost 10 hours on Saturday!!! Luckily, one of our neighbors is a plumber and got us all fixed up - until another pipe started leaking : ( I see more digging in the mud in our future.

4. Christiaan has been spending all his extra time (which isn't much) enjoying his new toy - A Bushmaster AR-15 ORC (It's a really serious gun). Burglars Beware!!

3. We spent most of Mother's Day and my parent's house. We got to talk to Curtis for a couple hours. He is on his mission in Winnipeg, Canada. It was SO good to talk to him! I can't believe he will be home in 7 months!!

2. We finally finished all the painting and general decor in our Master Bedroom! Woo Hoo!

1. I got a Promotion at work! I will be doing the same job at a larger store-Northpark Center in Dallas. I start this coming Monday, and I am anxious and nervous and sad to be leaving my current store, but ready for a new challenge!

So, as you can see we have had just a few things going on recently! Please forgive me, and don't write us off as terrrible bloggers (yet)

I LOVE Orbitz Commercials!!!
